Charitable giving is at the heart of what we do as Catenians. Our members support three distinct charitable causes, each addressing different needs and communities. Together, these charities reflect our commitment to helping others both locally and internationally.
Each year, every Catenian group elects a President to lead them, and that President selects a charity close to their heart. This gives each group the flexibility to support causes that matter most to their local community or reflect the President's personal passion.
The choice is wonderfully diverse. Some Presidents choose international or national organisations like Friends of the Holy Land or CAFOD. Others focus closer to home.
Recent examples: In Oxford, this year's President's charity is Gateway, which supports the homeless in and around Oxford. The group also provided funding to local Salesian Sisters for their youth group equipment.
Another Catenian group rallied behind a young boy facing a serious medical condition, raising funds for specialist equipment he needed.
Within reason, it's entirely up to the President and members to decide which charity to get behind.

Last year alone, Thames Valley Catenian groups raised over £35,000 for their individual Presidents' Charities – and usually had a great time doing it!
The Catenian Bursary Fund is an international registered charity that supports young Catholics aged 16-24 who are doing "something wonderful for others." This typically means young people volunteering on projects organised by Christian charities around the world.
Young people embarking on these inspiring projects can apply to the Bursary Fund for financial support. The fund also helps young volunteers who serve as helpers for assisted pilgrims at Lourdes.
Since the Catenian Bursary Fund was established in 1980, we've proudly distributed well over £1 million to young Catholics from around the world.

The Catenian Benevolent Fund is a registered charity that provides a safety net for Catenians and their families during difficult times. It's open to current members, their families, and even dependants of deceased Catenians who face financial hardship.
The fund offers practical support when members hit rough patches and need a helping hand.
How we've helped: When political turmoil forced members in Zimbabwe to flee their homes and livelihoods, the Benevolent Fund supported them during their transition to new lives. Closer to home, we've helped members facing redundancy get through the stressful period of finding new employment.
Whether the need is dramatic or simply a difficult moment in life, the Benevolent Fund is there for our Catenian family.
